Dumb and dumber

I'm late getting to this, I know, but I've only just come across this Telegraph report from early February:

A fifth of British teenagers believe Sir Winston Churchill was a fictional character, while many think Sherlock Holmes, King Arthur and Eleanor Rigby were real, a survey shows.

To tell you the truth, I wouldn't be surprised if their teachers were just as ignorant - we've had a couple of experiences.
