The Brown Identity

Following Polly Toynbee's recent Guardian opinion piece on Gordon Brown, Oliver Kamm weighs in with a withering assessment:-
The political characteristics of Gordon Brown have been known for years. He has no use for disinterested advice; he operates through a tight circle of courtiers of highly variable talent; he lacks ideological bearing; his purpose is the pursuit and maintenance of the highest office, to which end he has exerted himself with single-minded disloyalty and ungraciousness for well over a decade. Whereas Tony Blair dominated the European stage and at one point (the Kosovo intervention) was leader of the free world in all but name, Gordon Brown is a useless prime minister.
Nuff said.
